Prithwis Mukerjee is an engineer by education, a teacher by profession, a programmer by passion, and an imagineer by intention. With a career spanning academia, consulting, and corporate leadership, he thrives at the creative edge where technology meets business, constantly tinkering with tomorrow’s innovations today.
He began his career as a software engineer at Tata Steel and Tata IBM, later moving into technology consulting at PwC and IBM India. At Tata Steel, he pioneered the use of Relational Database technology, while at PwC, he created and led the eBusiness practice. At IBM, he introduced the concept of 3D Virtual Worlds, which has now evolved into what we know as the Metaverse.
As a tenured professor at IIT Kharagpur, he designed new courses in Data Warehousing and Data Mining—foundational elements that went on to shape the Praxis Data Science program. Currently, he serves as the Director of Praxis Business School, where he continues to drive innovation in management and data science education.
Prithwis is also a prolific author, with books on Python and Deep Learning, along with two acclaimed science fiction novels—Chronotantra and Chronoyantra. His personal motto reflects his outlook on life: "Resources are Limited, Creativity is Unlimited."
